Over the Bridge

I crash my life into you,

falling into a love

you’d buried from the start,

and still I keep on falling,

love crashing,

overdosing on you,

and, now, finding anything to pump my veins,

to silence, to bring me down,

driving over this bridge,

falling down, into sadness,

bottles shattering around me,

so alone

I might be overdosing,

my head against the dashboard,

glass like stars in my arm,

the river running red,

the radio still playing our song,

numbness taking the feeling,

and the only thing I’m thinking,

is that I might miss you.

Why didn’t you ever take me in,

believe that we could grow,

when all I ever did

was refuse to let you go?

And I can’t let go of this feeling,

of watching your taillights fade,

the water rising cold,

I crawl through the dark, crying,

never forgetting

you and I.
